Our Mission & Vision

History of Neck X LLC

As the developers of NECK X®, we really aren’t any different than you. We enjoy riding mountain bikes and we surf when we can. We go to work, live an active life, and spend time with our family and friends. And just like you, our necks can feel stiff and hurt from time to time. Sometimes our necks hurt in the morning when we wake up or maybe in the evening after a long day of work. Sometimes it’s difficult to turn our head to the left or right and sometimes we cringe when a daughter or nephew wants to jump on our back. It was for these reasons and many more that we developed NECK X® and are now sharing it with you. We got tired of receiving the same old exercises and stretch routines that were difficult to perform, had us twisted up like a pretzel, and didn’t seem to produce any positive results. We developed NECK X® as an effective and efficient way to relieve our neck pain, increase our flexibility, and improve our endurance. After years of use, we believe it can help you and the over 30 million people in North America who experience neck pain. Let’s take a moment to tell you a little about ourselves and why we developed NECK X®.

Monty Thompson is originally from Ohio and attended “The” Ohio State University where he played football for “Woody” Hayes. After leaving Ohio State, Monty has been a custom home builder in Aspen, CO. for over 20 years. Unfortunately in college, Monty’s football dreams were cut short when he ruptured his L4 disc in a scrimmage game. In addition to his lower back injury, in 2007, Monty was also required to have his C3 and C4 vertebrae fused together as a result of suffering from Spinal Stenosis. Over the past twenty years, Monty has sought out Physical Therapist, Chiropractors, Personal Trainers and Orthopedic Specialist to relieve his neck pain and restore his mobility. Through these sessions, Monty found some relief, but none of the techniques were giving him a long-term solution. Eventually, Monty took the best exercises from each of these specialties and developed an easy to use device to use at home. Since developing NECK X®, Monty has seen dramatic results and now enjoys mountain biking, surfing, and flying simulated air-to-air combat flights with Air Combat USA.

Patrick Houlahan grew up in North Carolina, Mississippi, and Kansas and played collegiate football and rugby at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Upon graduating from The Citadel, Patrick took a commission in the United States Marine Corps and became an F/A-18 Hornet Instructor Pilot. As a Fighter Pilot, Patrick accumulated over 2800 hrs of flight time, was selected as the Instructor Pilot of the Year, and graduated from the world famous “Top Gun” school. Furthermore, while in the Marine Corps, Patrick played on the Marine Corps Rugby Team and participated in the National All-Star Rugby tournament. Unfortunately, in 1997, Patrick experienced an axial load compression which caused shooting pains down his neck, the center of his back, and his right arm. After many years of flying high performance fighter aircraft and exposing his neck to high G forces, the pain and stiffness in his neck began to bother him almost every day. While on deployment to Iraq in 2009, Patrick’s neck locked up on two separate occasions while he was working out. These experiences, along with the constant stiffness and decreased mobility forced him to seek professional help. Even though the initial treatment resolved these issues, they did not provide a long term solution to his nagging neck pain. Therefore, upon his return from Iraq, Patrick partnered with Monty to develop NECK X® as a solution to relieve their symptoms. Since using NeckX®, Patrick has seen dramatic results and is still able to fly the F/A-18 Hornet today.
